What Are You Brushing With?

More Light For Halloween This Year

This year, for the first time, U.S. clocks will fall back a week later than previously, providing a Halloween evening that will remain light longer and may be safer for the kids. President Bush signed an energy bill in 2005 that, among other things, extends Daylight Savings by three weeks in the spring and by one week in the fall. So this year, set your clocks back by one hour at 2 a.m. on Sunday, November 4. See more info here and here.

Happy Thanksgiving
by Ken Drummond circa 1985

I am thankful for the birds that sing,
The grass that grows,
The clouds that show
Our thoughts’ reflection taking wing.

I love the crispy nights and morns,
The daffodils blooming,
The cannons booming,
The cows in the corn.

I am thankful for life and the chance to grow,
The tests and battles,
Premature death rattles,
Inspiring me to homeward go.

For beauty, peace, and love and joy,
Divine compassion ever showing,
The soul's awareness ever growing,
I give Thee thanks, oh Lord.
